"The first words I said to Rob were that "I am not running and I’m not going on the treadmill". Three years later I finished the London Marathon! This achievement was down to Rob. Over the last three years he has guided me through personalised training plans, always taking into consideration my personal goals as well as aspiring me to achieve above and beyond my potential.

He has taken into account my own anxieties about using the gym and certain equipment and incorporated these into setting realistic and achievable goals. Along the way I have had injuries and other set backs which he has also dealt with in his calm and reassuring manner, helping me to get back on track. Rob has always been available when I have needed him and is utterly reliable.

With Rob’s encouragement I have sustained and maintained my fitness regime as well as achieving goals I would never have thought possible. Not only has he inspired me to enter various running events, he has even participated with me, fetching my water, pace-setting and providing constant motivation, keeping me going when I really wanted to stop! What more can I say?"

"Rob has been working with myself and my husband for over a year and has been very instrumental in keeping us at a competitive level in our sport. Chris and I are polo players and need to be fit, tough and agile for a season lasting over 6 months of the year. Rob takes a holistic approach to our fitness and constantly reviews what are our immediate, short-term and long-term training needs. He sees us twice a week so has to be able to motivate us each and every time to ensure that we get the most out of our sessions. He is always punctual, cheerful and fits in well with his clients’ frame of reference while still being pushy enough to get the best out of us. He is knowledgeable about the wider aspects of fitness eg. sports psychology, nutrition, recuperation etc. and has managed to alleviate several physical problems which would have cost us a fortune in physiotherapists otherwise."

"I have been training with Robert Cheeseman since September 2009. In that time his training plan has not only seen my waist reduce by 7cm, but has also increased my overall muscle mass. Rob has been able to adapt to my specific needs and I am looking forward to the latest challenge of dramatically increasing my muscle size.

I have been particularly impressed by his easy manner, reliability and professionalism – his encouragement has resulted in me attending the gym 4 times a week for nearly 6 months!

I would have no reservation in recommending Rob to anyone looking to achieve improved levels of health and fitness, especially if like me, you had reached a plateau with your training and were thinking of giving up"

Mr Cheeseman, whatever must you have thought when I waddled into the gym 3 and a half months ago, 37 years old, 2 ½ stone overweight and with the audacity to request you make me look like that bitch on the beach my husband always gawps at. Not only were you faced with just that but the added bonus of doing it in 12 weeks without the need for me to diet. In your truly professional manner you smiled and said it would be a challenge.

Here we are 3 and a half months later and I feel fantastic for the want of a better word. Do you remember, because I so clearly do, the second session when we ran to the first set of traffic lights towards Purley. Only to the traffic lights you said. Well now the training has come to a close, I can share with you my thoughts at the time, which were – do I launch myself at the traffic lights or throw myself under a car, as quite frankly at that moment it was the better option than having my heart burst through my chest and my lungs explode in a volcanic mess.

It has not been easy but strangely enough enjoyable, but I can categorically stress that I could not have done it without your constant…..encouragement, you have kept me motivated and determined to reach my goal. You weren’t also aware of the unpleasant names you were called each time you pushed me that bit further but luckily they were all in my head, and in a strange way that made me more determined. I am truly astounded at the pain barriers I have been through and even more astounded that I have paid you to do so. Was it worth it? Every moment I feel fantastic, fitter, stronger and 10 years younger. I still have a little way to go but the one good thing is, when my husband looks at that bitch on the beach he needs to remember I now have one hell of a right hook.

All that remains is thank you Rob, I hold you in the highest esteem and wish you continued success.

Goals: Increase Fitness levels & muscle tone

If like me the thought of going to the gym inspires you with as much enthusiasm as having your teeth pulled out with no anaesthetic you’ll be grateful to read that I have some breaking news and more important I am willing to share.

Back in July 2006 (and for once it was not a new years resolution, it was just urgently needed) a friend of mine told me about some training sessions she had with a personal trainer and how great she felt but also what a genuinely nice guy this trainer was. As my fitness was in need of some urgent attention I bit the bullet and arranged an assessment. I can honestly say from that moment I never looked back, hot and sweaty but never back.

Full with nervous anticipation I managed to drag myself down the gym for my first session and I honestly thought that I was never going to keep it up. How wrong can a person be? Rob is one of the most attentive and considerate people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He constantly gives you motivation, is always by your side, monitors your every move, remains focused and all the while keeps you smiling.

I can probably say that I am one of Rob’s most difficult clients ( well I will say it before he does) not because I am a difficult person but I moan constantly, and have the attention span of a goldfish, but worry not as Rob is always thinking up new ways to make our sessions diverse while still achieving the main objective.

So to end my review I encourage anyone who never thought it possible or anyone that wants to improve to try out a session and I guarantee you will never look back.

I’d like to add my personal thanks to Rob for all his dedication and patience, I’ve not only got myself into better shape but I’ve also gained a friend.

Well done mate, I would never have done it without you.

Age Range: 30-40
Goals Change body shape, stop lower back pain

"Rob said he wanted to spend the first session just talking and doing some floor exercises, I agreed and it made sense as Rob explained and showed me how my job lifestyle was affecting my body in a detrimental way when it came to me exercising, something it seemed no-one had been able too, or maybe take the time to explain to me before.

I feel so much better now and am a lot more aware of my body and what exercises are supposed to feel like.

We spent a lot of time doing Swissball work and so far I seem to have left my back pain behind me, and am subsequently able to enjoy my exercise again.

I can categorically say there is no way I could have done this without the help and guidance of Rob."
